Course Essence Statement
To equip the learner with knowledge, skills and appropriate attitude in managing patients with
respiratory, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal disorders.
Course Objectives
i. Describe pathophysiology of disorders of the lungs, GIT, heart and muscles cells.
ii. Explain the clinical manifestation of disorders of the lung, GIT, heart and muscles cells
iii. Examine the various diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures done in patients with
diseases affecting the lung, GIT, heart and muscles cells.
iv. Describe nursing management of patients with diseases affecting the lungs, GIT, heart and
muscles cells
Course expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course, the learner will be able to:
i. Review the pathophysiology of disorders affecting the respiratory, gastrointestinal, blood
and the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems.
ii. Examine the clinical manifestations of disorders affecting respiratory, gastrointestinal
cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems.
iii. Apply the knowledge on performance of therapeutic tests and procedures in patients with
diseases affecting the respiratory, gastrointestinal, blood cardiovascular and musculoskeletal
systems.
iv. Demonstrate nursing management for patients with diseases affecting the respiratory,
gastrointestinal, blood, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems.
